I have been looking at different Chase Can designs for Paragliding Pilots and Paragliding tandem operators. The present Chase Cam setup in a tube seems to do the work best and protects the camera during launch and landing sequence. 

 

Chase Cam Camera Paragliding
Built out of a simple PWC tube. The tube acts as a wind sock and protects the camera. The hole at the side enables You to adjust the angle of the Camera.

 

Chase Cam Setup
The GoPro Camera fits inside the tube perfectly. The camera is mounted upside down for balance purposes.

  

Chase Camera for Paragliding
Streamers keep the Chase Camera pointing in the wind direction. Multiple streamers counteract the air movement and stabilise the camera.


3 Step launch sequence...

Step 1

Chase Cam launch
Inflating the glider... 
The chase Cam lines are below the glider lines. The Chase Camera is in the lower hand.

Step 2

Chase Cam attached to the Paraglider
The glider is coming up...
The Chase Camera remains in the hand until the glider is above your head.

Step 3

Paragliding Chase Cam
Take off.. 
Letting go of the Chase Camera while turning into the flight direction. The Chase Camera will assume its position behind the pilot.
